Khelbo Privacy Policy

NOTICE FOR PLAYERS: Khelbo operates on a "minimal telemetry" architecture. Because our WebAssembly emulators and cloud ports execute client-side inside your browser sandbox, your gameplay data, controller inputs, and memory card saves remain strictly local to your machine unless you explicitly choose to sync them.

1. Information We Collect

We prioritize your privacy and collect only the data necessary to provide high-performance, low-latency gaming:

  • Anonymous Technical Telemetry: Browser user agent, screen resolution, WebGL shader extensions, frame rates, and edge network ping (used strictly for matchmaking to the closest server node).
  • Local Game Saves & Bookmarks: Your in-game progress, save state snapshots, and bookmarked games are stored in your device's browser localStorage and IndexedDB. We do not access or sell this data.
  • Anonymous Real-Time Session Counter: When you click "Launch Session" to run a game, an ephemeral, randomized session identifier (UUID) is temporarily generated in your browser's sessionStorage. This anonymous identifier transmits a lightweight heartbeat every 30 seconds only while the game tab is visible to calculate live active player counts. No IP address is persisted in session records, no personal data is collected or tracked across external sites, and the identifier is purged upon closing the tab.
  • Contact & Newsletter Details: If you voluntarily subscribe to game alerts or submit support requests, we collect your submitted email address solely for that communication.

2. How We Use Telemetry

Collected diagnostic data is utilized solely to:

  • Diagnose WebAssembly crashes and V8 JIT compilation errors.
  • Route browser requests through secure CDN servers.
  • Prevent automated botting and denial-of-service attacks on our infrastructure.

3. Cookies & Local Storage

Khelbo does not deploy invasive third-party cross-site tracking cookies. We utilize strictly necessary session identifiers and browser local storage to remember your audio volume, gamepad mappings, and dark theme preferences. For details, refer to our Cookie Policy.

4. Your Data Rights (GDPR & CCPA)

Regardless of location, all Khelbo users have the right to:

  • Access any personal data submitted via forms or accounts.
  • Request immediate deletion of your email address from our alert lists.
  • Clear all local save states and game histories directly in your browser settings under "Clear Site Data".
